Adolescence Mental Health Awareness Online Class
Introduction
Mental health is a major concern worldwide and Nepal is not far behind in sharing this. In recent days, the health crisis is looming; more than 1105 people committed suicide in 100 days since March 24. (Source: my Republica, Published on: July 5, 2020 12:20 PM NPT By: SHREE RAM SUBEDI). Adolescents and teenagers have led to limited social and physical activities which have trigger anxiety and psychological distress. Thus, Bharosa provided an opportunity for children and youth to add to the wider conversation to set out the importance of self-mental health, sharing your story about your personal experience and getting advice with a range of activities to support learning on the subject. In public mental health terms, the main psychological impact to date is elevated rates of stress or anxiety. But as new measures and impacts are introduced – especially quarantine and its effects on many people’s usual activities, routines or livelihoods – levels of loneliness, depression, harmful alcohol and drug use, and self-harm or suicidal behaviour are also expected to rise. Hence, Bharosa one step towards better health conducted an online class via Zoom App.
During the lockdown, BHROSA Organization cordially invited the Adolescent to Mental Health Online Class. The online class was conducted via Zoom App on July 16, 2020. The class started from 11 Am to 11:40 Am. It was one day class delivered by health professional and social worker. We succeeded in educating 21 adolescent.
